It was mid-autumn when Altera received the letter informing her of her aunt's death. Her face was grim as she told her comrades that evening at Serenity's Inn about her departure to the Southern Lands in the morning.
"Our ceremonies for the deceased are important." She explained between sips of moglinberry cider, "As I have received a summons to be torch-bearer, I must attend. Uncle Kanaris and his line do not find my choices in life to be the best ones I could've made myself and I did not leave my clan under the best circumstances, but family is family and some traditions must be honoured."
